Rally Day - Each Senior High Fellowship year kicks off with a fun-filled September get-together. A generous church family provides us with the perfect site for grilling, playing games, renewing old friendships and beginning new ones. Students gather to picnic, swim, play volleyball, pick apples, and pose for our annual group photo during which our group forms an uplifting word such as “Faith,” “Peace,” or “Love.” If you are in 9th through 12th grade and are thinking about attending Senior High Fellowship, this is a must-attend event to get to know others and get a feel for the action-packed atmosphere the year will hold!

Retreats - Our Youth Fellowship group has several weekend retreats each year where we spend quality time together. We have overnight “Lock-ins” at the church, a winter weekend at Silver Lake Conference Center, and a beach weekend at Craigville Conference Center on Cape Cod. Each retreat offers a unique opportunity to spend sequestered time away to enjoy fellowship and to ask some of the tough questions about our lives and our faith. Our Craigville retreat in May is also a time when we recognize our graduating seniors, and plan an end of year Worship Service for the church, which is led entirely by our youth.

Please submit a Permission Form to attend Rally Day or any of our Retreats.

Apple Fest - Our main fundraiser is a wonderful tradition where we earn money and have fun working together at the same time. Each October, we join together and run the Baked Potato Booth at the Glastonbury Harvest Apple Festival. We make and sell delicious baked potatoes with a variety of toppings that people line up to buy. Our youth, their parents, and advisors sign up for shifts to set up, staff, and break down the booth afterwards. The event is a huge undertaking, but everyone has fun doing it. The money we raise helps to fund our Mission Trip, Retreats, and our Sunday night activities.

Heads Up! Hartford - Each summer, a group of First Church youth attend a week-long camp with youth from other local churches. Heads Up! Hartford, a not for profit, 501(c)3 volunteer association, aims to create a loving, supportive, fun, and productive environment at a summer work-camp for high school students. This faith-based initiative brings urban and suburban students in the Greater Hartford area together to break down the barriers between them as they improve their city through integrated work groups.
