Dear Friends,
The energy at church has been palpable and wonderful! Youth and adults are busy preparing potatoes for this weekend’s Glastonbury Apple Harvest & Music Festival, volunteers handed out fresh food at the CT Foodshare Mobile Pantry in our parking lot, our ringers and singers are rehearsing, our O’Brien School volunteers are reading and helping students, parishioners are learning and praying together, church members are visiting fellow members, and all sorts of people are working on various mission, outreach and justice initiatives.
One way we share God’s love is by worshipping together. At our worship services on Sunday (8:00 a.m. in the Micah Chapel and 10:00 a.m. in the Meetinghouse and online), we will celebrate Children’s Sabbath. The observation was started by the Children's Defense Fund, a group working to bring justice for children all over the world.
We hope to see you Sunday morning, but if you can’t make it, the bulletin, large print bulletin, and announcement slides are available on our website. You can watch any of our livestreamed or recorded services on our YouTube channel.
Earlier this week, I stumbled upon an article featuring the hopes and dreams of children from around the world.
"Imagine a tomorrow without cries or tears, where every child plays without weapons.
A united future where every child has his or her place, a circle of happiness, a gentle embrace."
--Andréa, 17, of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Imagine what our world would be like if each child of God had their basic needs met and knew they were loved.
Andréa continues, "I dream of a world of peace, where conflict is extinguished, where we know how to love.” May we heed Andréa’s words and keep working towards a world of justice, peace and love.
Blessings,
Kate
Our First Church family of faith enjoys worshipping together, and we hope you will join us! Our worship services are at 8:00 am in the Micah Chapel, 10:00 am in the Meetinghouse and livestreamed at 10:00 am (and are also available for viewing later).
