Dear Friends,
As we said in yesterday's blast email, the various storms of life are ever with us - the storms that impact our personal lives and the storms that impact the lives of people around our nation and our world. As we know, our call as a congregation is to reach out to people who are struggling with these many storms. And now our nation and the people of Connecticut are facing one of the most impactful natural storms of snow, cold and ice in recent memory.
With this in mind, your church leadership has thoughtfully considered whether to conduct in-person services this weekend. We take this responsibility very seriously. Foremost in their minds are these two factors - the safety of all members - attendees and volunteers - and the joy of gathering as a church family.
With that said, with the best information we have now - the arrival of the first snowflakes tomorrow morning by 8:00 or 9:00 a.m. and the extreme cold - we have decided to CANCEL our in-person worship services. (Our Environmental Justice Micah M0ment and our hike are also cancelled for tomorrow.)
We encourage you to find one of the previous worship services on our First Church YouTube channel channel and watch a service you missed or loved. 🙂 You are also invited to use this Zoom link for a “virtual” fellowship time at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow - like the ones we held during the pandemic. It isn’t the same as worshipping together, but it will be nice to connect virtually with some of you!
Through all the storms of life, we have each other and our loving God. Stay safe and warm.
