Dear Friends,
I took many education classes in college, and I remember one of our professors sharing how teachers need to have many skills to be effective but that we couldn't be great at all of them. I remember feeling relieved. We all come to life and our community with our gifts and also our growing edges. If we lift up the gifts of each person and work together, amazing things can happen! At First Church, we are the Body of Christ striving to be the light in our community and beyond.
Each Sunday we are reminded of the importance of learning, serving, being in fellowship and worshipping together. This Sunday we are back to TWO SERVICES. Please join us at 8:00 a.m. at the Micah Chapel, 10:00 a.m. in the Meetinghouse or online.

During our 10:00 a.m. service this week, we have our First Day of Church School (register online or in person for all Children's, Youth and Music Ministries programs); a Preschool Celebration as our youngsters join the next stage of Church School; and a Backpack Blessing (children AND educators are invited to bring their backpacks—or pencil cases—or even their sneakers) to lift up our students in prayer and send them off with encouragement and love.
We also invite you to bring a friend or neighbor (BAFON) this Sunday. Research shows that the number one reason why people visit a church is because someone invited them!
Coretta Scott King once shared, "The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members." First Church is a community where we work together to share God's love, light and hope in the world. What a blessing it is to be part of our community where we get to be the light together!
