Dear Friends,
On Wednesday evening, we had the privilege of spending time with our confirmands and their families at our yearly gathering called “Reaffirmation of Baptismal Vows.” During this service, we baptized one of our young people and listened as the confirmands shared parts of their Credos (I Believe) statements with us. There was also a time for family members to share memories and blessings with the young people. The themes of acceptance, community and love were spoken again and again. During our time together, we cried, laughed and hugged. At the end of the service, we remembered the confirmands' baptisms with a ritual with words and water, and then our time ended with the youth holding lit candles. It is a gift to belong to a community where we can be our true selves and where we support each other through all of life's seasons.
In just a few days, we will celebrate Confirmation Sunday, and we hope you will join us at 10:00 a.m. or online for a festive service with music, prayers and inspiring words.
Because we are in the Season of Celebration, there is only one service in the Meetinghouse at 10:00 a.m.
The bulletin, large print bulletin and announcement slides are available on our website. You can watch any of our livestreamed or recorded services on our YouTube channel.
On Sunday, our Chancel Choir will sing two moving anthems, including Seasons of Love from the musical Rent.
In five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes;
How do you measure a year in the life?
How about love? Measure in love. Seasons of love.
Here at First Church we are rooted and grounded in love throughout all the seasons of the year and our lives.
Blessings,
Kate
