Dear Friends,
The other day I was looking at the pictures on my phone. As I was scrolling to find the one I wanted, I noticed that my pictures tend to fall into a few distinct categories – my family (including A LOT of our dog), flowers and church!
First Church is a vibrant and faithful community, and I appreciate that we strive to be a place of gratitude, growth, inclusion, compassion and hope. My church growing up was my second family, which was a blessing to me. I always love hearing our young people say that about our church, and this summer that has happened a couple of times. ❤️
We hope you will come to worship this Sunday, August 30, at 9:30 a.m. in the Meetinghouse or online. We will hear wise words from our lay preacher Emma McCandless, give thanks for Rev. Betsey's ministry with us, pray, sing and enjoy being with one another.

One of the quotes that Emma picked for the bulletin cover is from theologian Henri Nouwen, who is one of my favorites! “The Christian community is the place where we keep the flame of hope alive among us and take it seriously so that it can grow and become stronger in us.”
I hope and pray that First Church is always a community where we cultivate hope, share love and nurture connections for people of all ages.
