Letter from the Pastor

Dear Friends,

Recently I heard of Eat Better, Eat Together month in October. Eating with others has been associated with reduced stress, improved relationships and better eating habits. While the history of the month is unknown, it is meant to promote better eating habits and encourage us to share more meals together.

The focus on eating better and eating together brings us closer to Jesus’ view of mealtimes. In the Bible, we often see Jesus stopping to eat with others. Eating together was a big deal to Jesus because it was a chance to deepen friendships, welcome strangers and the outcast and serve the poor.

As creatures made in God’s image, we are created for relationships with God and with others. Let us worship together this Sunday at 8:00 a.m. in the Micah Chapel, 10:00 a.m. in the Meetinghouse or online. We will sing, pray and eat together as we celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion.

I give thanks for the opportunity to serve, pray, learn, play and eat together.

Blessings,

Kate
