SPECIAL EVENT: Join other First Church members on Wednesday, May 20, at 11:45 am for our own behind-the-scenes tour of Connecticut Foodshare’s 85,000 sq. ft. Wallingford headquarters. We will learn about their operations, where the food comes from and the distribution process; see where the volunteers sort the donated produce and other food; and hear about the organization’s history and current work. Join us for this opportunity to see how they move millions of meals from their warehouse into our community. The tour will take 30 – 45 minutes with plenty of time for questions. Spots are limited – please RSVP.
Connecticut Foodshare’s vision is for a community where all people can get the food they need. For over a decade, the Connecticut Foodshare Mobile Food Pantry has come to our back parking lot every other Wednesday morning for this market-style distribution of fresh produce and other foods. You can sign up online to help.
On alternating Wednesday mornings, we help sort and package the produce (at the Wallingford warehouse) that is distributed on the Mobile Food Pantry truck at various sites across the state.
