When Timo Acosta’s family moved to Glastonbury in 2019, one of their priorities was to find a church community. They visited a few different churches during their first months in town. While many of them had great qualities, they found First Church to be warm and welcoming and a good fit for their family, including a robust youth program that their two young girls will enjoy. They also appreciate the variety of community engagement programs. Over the past five years, they’ve participated in Messy Church activities, volunteered to visit homebound seniors during the holidays, enjoyed Vacation Bible School and participated in Church School programs, to name a few.
“We’ve gotten involved because being part of a church community is more than just attending church on Sunday morning,” Timo stated.
“To really be a part of the community, you need to know each other, and the only way to know each other is to engage in conversation, service, activities and worship together.”
For Timo, three words that describe First Church are: Welcoming…Inclusive…Engaged.
