Please join us for a discussion of Bryan Stevenson’s Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption, which is the true story of his fight to defend Walter McMillan, a black man wrongly sentenced to death in Alabama. Bryan Stevenson is the founder of the Equal Justice Initiative, and Just Mercy, published in 2015, was named a “Best Book of the Year” by The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, and Time Magazine.
Several copies of the book are available in the brown cabinet in the back lobby by the church office. But, if you’re pressed for time, you can watch the 2019 movie version of Just Mercy. It’s streaming on Netflix and stars Jamie Foxx and Michael B. Jordan.
For a quick overview of Stevenson’s Justice Initiative, you can also watch his TED talk, We Need to Talk About an Injustice.
If you’re planning to read the book, please email Deborah Willard at deborahgladdingwil@sbcglobal.net and she will send you a reader’s guide.
