What is a Mission Trip? A mission trip is an opportunity for a group of people to practice living in intentional Christian community together. We travel to another place to learn about other people and serve them with love. However, the mission trip is not just a week of service. It is a 7-month commitment to participate in preparatory training, fundraising, the service week itself, and advocacy afterwards.
Where Are We Going? We are off to Deep Roots Clairvaux Farm, Earleville, MD. We will stay in their Mission House and work on the farm which provides shelter for families with children who experience homelessness. We will be doing a host of activities such as renovation, cleaning, landscaping, repairs and playing with the children who live there. To learn more, visit their website at deeprootsinc.org.
Why do we go? We go because we feel compelled by the Gospel to care for the poor and vulnerable of our world; because there is a deep need for helpers in this world; because we have so much love to share. Through this mission trip you’ll learn new skills, experience more of God’s amazing creation, form deep connections with friends new and old and have an experience you will never forget.
Who can go? This trip is open to any 9th through 12th graders and will be chaperoned by our adult Advisors.
When will we go? During GHS April Break, Sunday, April 12, to Saturday April 18, 2026. But remember, a mission trip is more than just the service week. Participants must also attend our mandatory monthly Mission Focused SHF Sessions on November 2, January 11, February 1, March 8, March 29, April 12 (Commissioning), our send-off Event on April 11, and our reflective worship service on the morning of May 3.
How will we get there? Advisors will drive from Church via rental vans to Earlville, MD.
What is the cost? The cost will be $550/student. We are collecting a $100 deposit and registration by November 2nd. Financial assistance is available, please talk to Sean Donovan at sean.donovan002@gmail.com for details.
Can I bring a friend? YES! Friends are highly encouraged, and we offer a $100 discount if you bring a friend from outside First Church.
What if I have more questions? Please contact Faith Ferrall.
