Dear Friends,
On Wednesday evening, we had the privilege of spending time with our confirmands and their families at our yearly gathering called “Reaffirmation of Baptismal Vows.” During this service we baptized two of our young people, and it was also a time for family members to share memories and blessings with the young people. The themes of acceptance, community and love were spoken again and again. During our time together we cried, laughed and hugged. At the end of the service, we remembered the confirmands' baptisms with a ritual of words and water, and then our time ended with the youth holding lit candles. It is a gift to belong to a community where we can be our true selves and where we support each other through all of life's seasons.
This Sunday we will celebrate Confirmation Sunday, and we hope you will join us at 10:00 a.m. or online for a festive service with music, prayers and inspiring words. Because we are in the Season of Celebration, there is only one service in the Meetinghouse at 10:00 a.m.
The bulletin, large print bulletin and announcement slides are available on our website. You can watch any of our livestreamed or recorded services on our YouTube channel.
When I was younger, I read Tuesdays with Morrie. The wisdom shared in the book resonated deeply with me, and recently someone shared this quote from the book's author, Mitch Albom.
The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.
First Church is a place where we get to come together to share love, build community and have purpose, and what a blessing that is!
Take care,
Kate
Our First Church family of faith enjoys worshipping together, and we hope you will join us! During our Season of Celebration, we have one service at 10:00 am in the Meetinghouse and livestreamed (and services are also available for viewing later).
