Dear Friends,

Last night my family and I had the privilege to present two scholarships to graduating high school seniors in memory of my Mom. It was a poignant evening for so many reasons, including that I stood on that same stage 28 years ago sharing my thoughts at my high school graduation. All those years ago, I spoke about the importance of each one of us graduates pursuing our passion in life, and I shared these words of poet Berton Braley.

Oh, you gotta get a glory

In the work you do;

A hallelujah chorus

In the heart of you.

Paint, or tell a story,

Sing, or shovel coal,

But you gotta get a glory

Or the job lacks soul.

No matter our age or stage in life, we all long to have a purpose, to feel passionate about what we do and to be part of something bigger than ourselves. We are blessed that our church provides a place for people of all ages to share their passion, to be part of our beloved community and to serve with love.

We invite you to worship with us on Sunday when we celebrate our graduates. We will gather at 10:00 a.m. in the Meetinghouse and online. The Chancel Choir will sing, the Faith & Faithfulness Award recipients will be recognized, we will participate in Holy Communion, and we will celebrate all of our graduates. And of course there will be cake during fellowship time!

The bulletin, large print bulletin and announcement slides are available on our website. You can watch any of our livestreamed or recorded services on our YouTube channel.

Church is one of the last few places in American society where different generations intentionally intermingle. There is such a tremendous value in sharing wisdom and lessons with each other. Come this Sunday to remember, listen, encourage, pray and sing!

Love,

Kate

Our First Church family of faith enjoys worshipping together, and we hope you will join us! During our Season of Celebration, we have one service at 10:00 am in the Meetinghouse and livestreamed (and services are also available for viewing later).
