Dear Friends,
We closed our poignant Maundy Thursday evening worship service with these words, “Friends, go into the stillness of night holding onto hope. Draw near to the holy. Turn toward the crushed, discouraged, forsaken and wounded with love, encouragement and good deeds. It is our calling to remember, even in our darkest hour, who we are and whose we are. It all begins and ends and begins again with love. Go in hope, go in peace, go in love. Amen.”
As we walk this Holy Week road, we sometimes need reminders – in death and resurrection, in joy and grief, in the unknown and in the liminal space between – that God loves us and calls us to love others.
Despite the sadness of the world and our lives, resurrection will indeed come, and we hope you will join us for one of our three Easter worship services.
We will gather at 6:30 a.m. for an outdoor Sunrise Service on the Micah Chapel patio and then at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. in the Meetinghouse. The 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. services will be livestreamed and will include the Constitution Brass Quintet, festive anthems by our various choirs and heartfelt preaching. For the later services, childcare is available, as well as coloring pages, activity bags and our children’s corner.
The bulletin, large print bulletin and announcement slides are available on our website. You can watch any of our livestreamed or recorded services on our YouTube channel.
We invite you to give generously to our Easter offering to support One Great Hour of Sharing and Manchester Area Conference of Churches (MACC). Always remember that any gift – large or small – makes a difference! You can make your check payable to “First Church” with the memo line “Easter offering.” You can also donate online.
Friends, I pray that you feel the love of God, the hope of community and the joy of new life each and every day.
Easter blessings and peace,
Kate
Our First Church family of faith enjoys worshipping together, and we hope you will join us! On upcoming Sundays our worship services are at 10:00 am in the Meetinghouse and livestreamed (and are also available for viewing later).
