Dear Friends,

Out of abundance of caution, we are cancelling our worship service for this morning. Our number one priority is the well-being and safety of our musicians and worship attenders. We thank our dedicated musicians for the time they have put into the service, and stay tuned for when our festive Lessons and Carols service will be.

We will gather for a time of fellowship on Zoom at 11:15 a.m. if you would like to join us. The link is in your email from today.

Our hearts are broken for the violence in the world, including in Providence. May we recommit ourselves to being people of peace, compassion and hope, and may God's love shine in our lives and in the world this day and every day.

Blessings,

Kate, Angela and your church leaders

Dear Friends,

The season of Advent is here, and soon we will hear the familiar words – “For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders, and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

We know the story, the words and the carols. And yet sometimes the stress of the season can outweigh the blessings, and the struggles can outdo the joy. There are times when the sadness of the ongoing violence in our world threatens to overcome us. One way to combat all the challenges in our own lives and the world is to come together to pray, sing, listen and be in community.

We invite you to worship with us this Sunday for our annual Lessons and Carols service. We have one service only this Sunday at 10:00 a.m. in the Meetinghouse. We give thanks for all of our church musicians who have been practicing for months so that we might hear again this familiar story. The service will also be livestreamed online.

The bulletin, large print bulletin and announcement slides are available on our website. You can watch any of our livestreamed or recorded services on our YouTube channel.

So, let us come this Sunday just as we are – joyful, worried, excited, overwhelmed and more – and hear again the story of Jesus’ birth so long ago. Let us come together to remember we are rooted and grounded in love and called to share that love near and far.

Blessings,

Kate

Our First Church family of faith enjoys worshipping together, and we hope you will join us! On most Sundays our worship services are at 8:00 am in the Micah Chapel, 10:00 am in the Meetinghouse and livestreamed at 10:00 am (and are also available for viewing later).
