Dear Friends,
It’s hard to believe December is almost here and that the Advent season is upon us. Advent begins this Sunday with the theme of hope, followed by three more Sundays – peace, joy and love.
Does this Advent season seem a little different from previous years, with the hope for peace, joy and love more fragile – and more unlikely – than in recent memory? Peace seems unattainable given the conflict and hostility among nations and in our own country as well. Our joy is tempered by the sorrow and sadness in our own lives and in the lives of family and friends. Love seems hard to come by with so many people struggling.
But as people of faith, we know that God’s love in the Christ Child, and our love shared with one another and with the world in response, have the power to transform all of creation. In big ways and small, you all are sharing God’s love and hope each and every day. ❤
When we gather for worship, we share love and hope with one another. Please join us for our services this Sunday. We will celebrate the first Sunday of Advent at 8:00 a.m. in the Micah Chapel, 10:00 a.m. in the Meetinghouse and online.
The bulletin, large print bulletin and announcement slides are available on our website. You can watch any of our livestreamed or recorded services on our YouTube channel.
Friends, December and Advent are upon us, and despite all that is going on in our lives and the world, let us all remember God’s call for us to be people of hope, peace, joy and love.
Take care,
Kate
Our First Church family of faith enjoys worshipping together, and we hope you will join us! On most Sundays our worship services are at 8:00 am in the Micah Chapel and 10:00 am in the Meetinghouse and livestreamed (and are also available for viewing later).
