Dear Friends,
It seems like loneliness is a topic that has come up a lot recently in my conversations. It was a few years ago that I read a devotional by Reverend Katherine Mulhern. The title is “Your Struggles Are Welcome Here,” and she writes about the epidemic of loneliness in our country and the important role churches play in creating communities where people feel valued and loved.
Towards the end of her devotion she shares, “Loneliness fades in the midst of belonging. Hopelessness loses its sharp edge in the face of a common purpose.” Here at First Church we have a purpose, a mission and a calling to be the church, serve with love and create a community of belonging, hope and compassion.
Each week we have the opportunity to come together to be with one another and to worship God. We hope you will come worship with us this Sunday at 9:00 a.m. in the Meetinghouse or online. We have childcare and Church School throughout the summer.
The bulletin, large print bulletin and announcement slides are available on our website. You can watch any of our livestreamed or recorded services on our YouTube channel.
Here at First Church we mean it when we say, “Whoever you are and wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.” We are a community made up of hopeful, lonely, enthusiastic, tired and compassionate people working together to share love near and far.
Blessings,
Kate
Our First Church family of faith enjoys worshipping together, and we hope you will join us! On summer Sundays our worship services are at 9:00 am in the Meetinghouse and livestreamed (and are also available for viewing later).
