Dear Friends,

When I was a child, I often wore a t-shirt that said, “Many Nations, One World.” I loved that shirt! As I’ve mentioned before, my family always welcomed folks from around the world into our house for short stays or longer ones. Our exchange student from Mexico, Lupita, made a profound impact on my five-year-old self. Bernard, my Ugandan brother, and Jonas, my Swiss brother, lived with us during my teen years, and they, too, influenced me in meaningful ways.

On this World + Family Communion Sunday, we will remember our blessings and be inspired to do our part in responding to God’s call in making our world a more peaceful, compassionate and just place for all of God’s children.

We have one service at 10:00 a.m. this Sunday in the Meetinghouse. Communion is moved to the beginning of the service, and our children will participate. We’d love to see you on Sunday at church, or you can watch online.

The bulletin, large print bulletin and announcement slides are available on our website. You can watch any of our livestreamed or recorded services on our YouTube channel.

After worship, the Racial Justice Team is sponsoring a book study, and at 1:00 p.m. the Mental Health Ministry team and First Church Outside are sponsoring a hike.

Our closing hymn in Sunday’s service is “O For a World.” The words of this hymn remind us of the world God calls us to create.

O for a world where everyone

Respects each other's ways,

Where love is lived and all is done

With justice and with praise.

We welcome one world family

And struggle with each choice

That opens us to unity

And gives our vision voice.

Hope to see you Sunday!

Love,

Kate

Our First Church family of faith enjoys worshipping together, and we hope you will join us! On most Sundays our worship services are at 8:00 am in the Micah Chapel and 10:00 am in the Meetinghouse and livestreamed (and are also available for viewing later).
