Dear Friends,
In her words of introduction for a baptism this summer, Kate shared these words, “Being part of a community is really important – a community where we love one another and take care of one another and so it is always a blessing to be able to celebrate that community.”
Week after week the members and friends of First Church gather together to be that community of love that cares for one another, as each of us goes through both the joys and the challenges of life. Our lives are truly filled with God’s many blessings, as well as inexplicable sadness, uncertainty and loss. And the daily news constantly reminds us that there is so much suffering and need in our world.
But as a community of love, we can and we do share compassion, kindness and grace with one another, and with our neighbors in need both near and far.
This week we gather as a community to celebrate the life of Kate’s mother, and we will do that in a memorial service on Saturday morning at the church at 11:00 a.m. You are invited to be present in person, watch the service livestreamed on our YouTube channel or view it later at your convenience.
Then on Sunday, we will gather once again in the Meetinghouse at 10:00 a.m. or online to give thanks to a good and gracious God. Please note that both this Sunday and next, October 6, we are having just one service at 10:00 a.m.
The bulletin, large print bulletin and announcement slides are available on our website. You can watch any of our livestreamed or recorded services on our YouTube channel.
This weekend will truly be a time to gather as a community to give thanks for our many blessings, and to be together to love and care for one another!
Lots of love,
David
Our First Church family of faith enjoys worshipping together, and we hope you will join us! On most Sundays our worship services are at 8:00 am in the Micah Chapel and 10:00 am in the Meetinghouse and livestreamed (and are also available for viewing later).
