Dear Friends,

After church a couple of Sundays ago, a new member in our congregation commented on my colorful stole and specifically the words – “If you want peace, work for justice.” Our pursuit of God’s justice in the world can often feel overwhelming, but for generations, our church community has been working for local and global justice. By fostering a community of justice-focused missions, we are living out God’s call to care for our neighbors near and far.

Our Season of Celebration continues with Justice Sunday. We will have one service at 10:00 a.m. in the Meetinghouse and online. It is sure to be a time full of smiles, inspiration and connection.

Rev. Leslie Jackson is our Area Conference Minister for the South Central Region of the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ, and he will be our guest preacher on Sunday. His ministry centers on justice, transformation and helping communities rise with hope. In addition, our Mental Health Ministry (MHM) Team will spotlight Mental Health Awareness Month with several therapy dogs and their handlers sharing their comfort and love during the Children's Message and in our Church School classrooms!

The bulletin, large print bulletin and announcement slides are available on our website. You can watch any of our livestreamed or recorded services on our YouTube channel.

After the service, we invite you to fellowship time and our annual Justice Fair in Schultz Hall. We will celebrate the important justice work our congregation is pursuing, highlight various teams and initiatives and offer opportunities to get involved. And there will be cake! 🙂

We will also have a Micah Moment at 11:30 a.m. to learn all about therapy dogs, sponsored by the Mental Health Ministry Team.

A couple of years ago, former church members who moved away stopped by the office to say hi. I think of their parting words quite often – “Keep up the good work!” Friends, may we always be a community that does the good work of being the church and sharing God’s love, peace and justice in the world.

With love,

Kate

Our First Church family of faith enjoys worshipping together, and we hope you will join us! During our Season of Celebration, we have one service at 10:00 am in the Meetinghouse and livestreamed (and services are also available for viewing later).
